Saving Adam - A True Story

My Sweet Pea says, "Mom, you gotta read this book."

She is holding a very thin hard cover book with a photograph of a young boy.

When I started the book I couldn't put it down.  It's a quick read taking you through the emotions of sadness, anger, compassion, and love.  This is a must read book for every mother and educator!

The book is told, for the most part, from the  mother's perspective.  Adam, at the age of 12, has entered her life in an unusual way.  She takes him in a retarded, illiterate, completely uneducated and totally unmanageable boy for the weekend before he is committed to the state hospital  for the rest of his life.

The weekend turns out to be longer.  This mother saw potential in this boy and is ready to do battle on his behalf. This short, concisely worded book relates the love of a mother fighting for her son.

This story is nothing short of a miracle, the result of love.  Oh, and did I mention this is a true story?

You need to check this book out and read it, then encourage others to read it.
