10 On Aug. 10

August is a great lazy hazy, kind of summer month; one without any big holidays. I found that there are several not highly known holidays.

Once again I'm participating in Shimelle's 10 on 10 so for this month's 10 on the 10th I thought I'd list my Top 10 holidays for August.  You may not want to view this on an empty stomach as almost half of them deal with food.

#1  8/3  Watermelon Day. The hybridization of the seedless watermelon sure was nice for adults.  Women especially because they don't have to worry so much about seeds when cutting it up for fruit salads.  But there may be some deprived kidlets who may not know about watermelon seed spitting contests.
#2  8/5  National Waffle Day.  If you've been follow us for a bit you know that we love waffles!!!

#3  8/7   Sister's Day.  It's nice to have a special day to honor your sister.

#4  8/7   Lighthouse Day. There is something about lighthouses that intrigues me.  Don't exactly know what it is but I love seeing them and photographing them.  (I didn't take the above picture)

#10 8/30 National Toasted Marshmallow Day.  Whenever I smell a toasted marshmallow I remember good times, family, friends, good food.  What memories does the taste and smell of toasted marshmallows bring to you?
